Cleikum 125 - The Masonic Ceremony

2026 marks 125 years of Innerleithen’s unique Cleikum Ceremonies, a tradition that gives the town its identity and a yearly sense of communion with itself. Over the next few weeks I’ll be celebrating that story here on the blog.

To begin, I’m sharing a recent episode of Prov Pod, the podcast I host for the Provincial Grand Lodge of the Scottish Borders. The Freemasons of Innerleithen play an important part in the Cleikum today, and this episode explores how their involvement, and the ceremony itself, has evolved over more than a century.

It was a privilege to tell this story in another setting, and I hope you enjoy hearing how this long, layered tradition has unfolded.
