Melrose with ‘History with Beth’

I was delighted to work with the fabulous Beth Reid recently in Melrose. I wanted Beth to give me her feedback on my Melrose Low Carbon Walking Tour, as well as using her influence and reach to help me promote the tours. If you don’t know Beth, then check out History with Beth on Instagram or her recently published first book “Women in the Scottish Wars of Independence”. The day was a whirlwind of fun and laughter. Beth arrived off the train from Waverley to Tweedbank, having enjoyed my exclusive audio clips on the journey south, getting her in the mood for the sort of fun, innovative and insightful tours I pride myself on. She came with a camera (naturally!), but left with stories and a new appreciation of The Borders. And that, I think, is the magic of this place when paired with a local guide.

We wandered from Tweedbank to Melrose, pausing loads and getting to know this landscape & the people in it - it was the perfect validation for the slow approach my Low Carbon tours take.

The reel Beth created (below) I believe captures the light, the laughter and the layered beauty of the Borders. But what it can never quite show is the feeling: that sense of slowing down and of walking not just to get somewhere, but to really understand where you are. You’ll only get that on the tour ;)
