Storytelling Walk (Open Studios - Innerleithen to Walkerburn)

  • 55a High Street Innerleithen EH44 6HD (map)

Get up close and personal with the iconic River Tweed in these special guided walks by local guide Stewart Wilson AKA Tweed Valley Blogger.  Stewart will bring the landscape of the river and its surrounding hills to life, while telling the story of the industry which once dominated the area.  Expect historical gems and tales of local worthies & wildlife along the way on these two walks, exclusive for Open Studios weekend.  The walks are approx. 4km in length and fully accessible, using the Tweed Valley Railway Path and pavements. They will take approximately 1.5 hours to complete.

Walks are FREE but tickets must be booked in advance. Tickets available here.

Walkerburn Open Studios will be open until 4pm - why not visit after your walk?

Transport: Borders buses run between Walkerburn and Innerleithen (return) every hour.

About the walk leader: Stewart Wilson is a local tour guide, who runs a popular online blog ‘Tweed Valley Blogger’.  A Borders resident his whole life, Stewart is passionate about sharing stories from not only his native Tweeddale, but across Scotland and Northern England.  His work as a tour guide brings him into contact with a wide variety of interesting people, and he enjoys nothing more than surprising them with the richness of landscape and culture in The Borders.  In the past year Stewart has featured on BBC Radio 4’s ‘Ramblings’ and ITV ‘Border Life’, promoting The Tweed Valley to as wide an audience as possible.  Stewart lives in Innerleithen with his wife and two daughters and is excited to be involved in this year’s Open Studios.
